Smart Summer Wardrobe Essentials

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of summer is not even the idea of bringing out the floral prints to play… all that resonates in my head is the HEAT that comes with it lol. The elevated temperatures that come with the summer is what I prioritize the most when picking outfits and staying as aerated as possible is what takes the centre stage for me.

If I’m going to be out for most part of the day, ease and comfort are always key for whatever I choose to wear. At the same time, summer is the time when most go very casual but there are times when you want to deviate slightly from all of that but not trade-off keeping as much heat away as possible. The foundation for me is wearing as little pieces of clothing as I can but still introducing subtle smart elements for the times I don’t want to come off too casual.

For my summer wardrobe selection, shorts would always be summer staples in my wardrobe. Not only are they very easy to wear but they afford my legs more access to the well sought after fresh air lol. Next staples are button-downs either in short sleeves or long sleeves which I always end up folding up anyway. For smart looks, I either opt for plain coloured or stripes but that’s more of a personal preference. I like to bring out the prints when I’m gunning for a more casual finish. The most important part of introducing some smartness to it for me is tucking in the shirt. Shorts are very basic and very casual pieces but tucking in a smart shirt paired with it makes a lot of difference as seen in the pictures here. For my feet, I like to finish it off with sneakers because if I’m going to be out for long, I like to stay as comfortable as possible and sneakers always do it for me. Pairing with a pair of loafers would also be an excellent choice specially to amplify the smart elements of the entire look but I just find sneakers more comfortable especially for longer wearing.

For accessories, a smart dress watch, sun-glasses and bracelets would be a good addition… more like the icing on the cake. Feel free to leave me a comment on what you think about the outfits and your own ideas of dressing smart this summer and let’s get a conversation started.
