Fragrance acquisition can be frustrating sometimes especially when your fragrance of interest is way out of your budget. However, several companies have surfaced producing clones (knock-offs) of very pricy fragrances to afford those who either cannot afford or are not willing to spend a fortune on a fragrance an opportunity to have the same experience without breaking the bank. In a previous post I put up last month (on Amouage Interlude Man), someone requested I do a post on alternative fragrances for the budget conscious men, so today’s post is on a very affordable alternative to Creed Aventus, one of the most hyped up niche fragrances in the fragrance community… I bet every fragrance enthusiast has already heard so much about this fragrance.
When it comes to describing fragrances, I like to start off with giving my personal experience with whichever fragrance I’m describing. I was having a conversation with a friend of mine who’s also a fragrance enthusiast and in course of the conversation, he told me about Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man. He spoke so well of it that I had to go look it up. Personally, whenever I hear good comments about any fragrance, I jump straight to fragrantica.com to read reviews on it and doing that for this fragrance, I saw how almost everyone on there compared it to Creed’s Aventus. Fast-forward to days later, I returned home one day to meet our sitting room smelling of Creed Aventus. I wanted to get upset as to why my brother would spray my beloved Aventus just to sit at home, but I decided to ask him what fragrance he sprayed before complaining…lol. Well, it turned out I was wrong… his bottle of Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man just got delivered and that was what I could smell.
To be very honest with you guys, walking into the sitting room, I couldn’t tell the difference one bit. That’s how close this smells to the real thing. I was totally blown away and I was so pained at the same time because it was so close to the real thing but in terms of pricing, there was no comparison. A 100ml bottle of Creed Aventus was £230 while a 105ml bottle of the clone sold for about £25. No lies I was pissed off and heartbroken lol. Since this is not a full review of Armaf’s clone on Creed Aventus, I would not go into the note breakdown of the fragrance. Sniffing this stuff for the first couple of times, I really couldn’t differentiate it from Aventus. They smelled identical in my opinion and surprisingly, this clone performs even better than Aventus… this added to my pain LOL! This fragrance is stronger and louder than creed Aventus and I ended up getting a bottle myself
However, after using both for a while, I could start to pick out a few nuances that differentiate these two beasts. The major difference I observed was the opening. The opening (initial scent just after spraying) of Creed Aventus is hands down more pleasant with the beautiful notes of pineapples and citrus while Armaf’s clone has a rather harsh synthetic lemony opening which some people find unbearable. But its actually not so bad and many might not really even notice this difference unless they’ve used Aventus for a while. The good news is after the fragrance has dried down (could take 30mins-1hr), it becomes identical to Aventus. In the dry down, I personally still don’t get any difference as far as the scent goes and Armaf rather just projects better and lasts longer. If I were to compare these two fragrances, I’d liken them to two brothers from same parents. Aventus would be the gentleman that wears a nice suit and tie and works in a nice office while Armaf would be the loud-mouthed “thug-life” brother lol. Same parents, same genes but just a difference in character. Armaf has rough edges while Aventus is smooth all the way. To get a better idea on what to expect as pertains to the scent details, read my post on Creed Aventus.
I’d like to end this saying that although Armaf didn’t do a perfect clone on Aventus, no one really has any justification to complain especially at this price point. This is a great scent and an excellent clone of Creed Aventus (in my opinion) that would certainly get you noticed wherever you go and would get you complements as well. You get more value than you pay for with this fragrance and I’d highly recommend this for any man that wants to have a Creed Aventus experience without breaking the bank.
Thanks for reading…
